Auckland Garden DesignFest

Departs Highwic, 9.15am
Led by Penny Cliffin, Senior Lecturer in Landscape Architecture at Unitec, and Anna-Maria
Morris, qualified landscape designer and active member of the GDSNZ Events Committee,
the tour will visit a carefully selected range of different gardens on each day, designed to cater for a wide range of interests. Numbers are limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Meeting at Highwic (pictured), 40 Gillies Avenue, Newmarket at 9am ready to depart at
9.15am each day, with free parking available at both Highwic and Newmarket School (7
Gillies Ave). The tour will return at 4pm to round off the day with a guided walk of this
heritage garden by Amy Hobbs, landscape architect. Those on the bus tour for both days
may choose either day to join the Highwic festivities. Amy will talk about the conservation

and management of heritage landscapes, including the restoration work planned for Highwic’s garden.

Cost: $120 per day, with a 10% discount for those registering for both days. This includes
lunch, refreshments, coach travel, tour guides, entry fees and garden notes. For enquiries or

Please note: Due to the terrain of some gardens we are unable to accommodate delegates
with wheel chairs and walking frames. The tour may be varied or cancelled as circumstances change. A 75% refund is available for cancellations prior to 5 November. No refund available after that date.

Spotlight on the Three Mezzos

Lynne Anderson, Margo Knightbridge and Barbara Lynch continue their tradition of spring
concerts. Each mezzo will present her choice of solo and Warwick Gibbs will contribute
beautiful piano solos by Edvard Grieg.

Christmas Choir

Highwic will have the excitement of Christmas entertainment in its ballroom, with seasonal
songs with the Shore Singers. Join our Twilight Tour and see Highwic dressed in its best
Christmas finery.

Carols on the Lawn

Pompallier Mission
Join in this favourite annual event featuring Christmas carols performed by local groups

Christmas at Highwic

From 7 December

Enjoy a display of rare antique china dolls at Highwic from a private collection – a favourite
annual event – and experience Highwic decked out in traditional swags and other bunting,
similar to how the house would have been decorated over a century ago. Free for children –

A Partridge in a Pear Tree

A Victorian Christmas with George Henare, Cathie Harrop and musicians Paul Harrop, with
Jennie and Dave Khan. A welcome drink on arrival and after the concert; supper with the
performers will be served on the verandah. Costumes and fancy dress optional but not
